Placental tissue is a particularly rich source of stem cells with great medical potential. At Vita 34 it is stored in its original form – i.e. unmanipulated – in order to preserve its full biological diversity. The number of clinical studies focussing on placental stem cells is growing continuously. The current focus is on neurological diseases such as autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis (MS) and strokes. Initial research results also show promising approaches in regenerative medicine – for example in the treatment of chronic, difficult to heal wounds such as diabetic foot syndrome or vascular diseases.
Special properties of stem cells from placental tissue
The placenta is a unique source of stem cells that contains a large number of different cell types in high concentrations. Many of these cells still receive little attention today – but could play an important role in medicine in the future.
High immune tolerance and viability
Stem cells from placental tissue are characterised by strong immune tolerance, high viability and a low risk of contamination. They can also be used if the tissue characteristics within the family do not match completely.
High repair and differentiation potential
Thanks to their high reproductive capacity, placental stem cells are increasingly being used in regenerative medicine – for example to repair diseased or injured tissue.
They also have the ability to differentiate into various cell types, which makes them a promising basis for future therapies.
Low rejection reactions
An additional advantage: placental stem cells usually trigger only minimal immune reactions in the recipient organism – a decisive factor for their successful use in transplantation and cell therapy.
The promising future of placental stem cells
As VITA 34, we are responding to the extremely active research and growing application environment in the therapeutic use of postnatal cells and would like to provide our customers with the broadest possible range of storage options. The increasing application possibilities of cell therapies in personalised and regenerative medicine are also reflected in the steadily rising number of product approvals. In the past three years, the number of authorised products has doubled. This sharp increase in the number of cell therapy treatment options is offset by the fact that the placental cellular material produced at birth is discarded as medical waste according to conventional guidelines and is no longer available for future potential applications. We at VITA 34 would like to counteract this situation and, in addition to the storage of umbilical cord blood and cells from umbilical cord tissue that has been established for many years, now also offer you the possibility of storing placental tissue from your newborn child.

Compare products and prices
As a precaution, store either the umbilical cord blood or the umbilical cord tissue after the birth of your child. We offer both at different prices and terms. Also a financing is possible. Optionally, you can also donate the umbilical cord blood.
